Konnichiwa! An Exciting Language Experience for Kids

On February 17, 2023, the students of SD Muhammadiyah 4 had a new experience of learning the Japanese language at the MUPAT Library. This activity was a collaborative effort with the Japanese Language Education Student Association from Brawijaya University.

As an introduction to the material, Muhammad Fadhil Nur Mesda and his fellow university students invited the attending participants to introduce themselves in Japanese. They also guided the students in writing their nicknames using the Hiragana script.

The next activity focused on introducing basic vocabulary such as the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, and common school-related objects. Using a practical approach, the children quickly grasped the language, which is known to be one of the most challenging languages in the world.

Dwi Rinda Aulia, the Head of the MUPAT Library, mentioned that despite SD Muhammadiyah 4 already providing English and Arabic language lessons in classrooms, the library continues to offer services in other foreign languages, including both book collections and fun activities like this.
